(at Wellesley)
Help stop the Conservative Government's $2,560 a year
rent increase on seniors in nursing homes.
WHAT IS THE ROCKING CHAIR PROTEST?
The Rocking Chair Protest is intended to raise awareness and stop the
government's sneaky, new 15 per
cent user fee on seniors living in nursing homes. That's $7 more a day.
$213 more a month. $2,560
more a year. We can't allow our most vulnerable seniors to be rocked by
this hefty increase(they can ill
afford) for their accommodation.
ROCK THE GOVERNMENT. STOP THE INCREASE.
Visit our rocking chair July 30 and 31 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. either
day. Join politicians, seniors, concerned citizens and celebrity guests who
will rock in the chair in protest over those 16 hours. You can even take a
turn. Sign our Stop the Increase petition. Add your name to the avalanche
of signatures we plan to gather.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE FOR MORE INFORMATION,
PHONE (416) 325-7308.
The Rocking Chair Protest is an initiative of Howard Hampton and the
Ontario NDP Caucus. It has the support of many seniors and advocacy
groups, citizen an labour-based organizations and NDP riding associations
across the province. Public pressure can force the government to stop
gouging our seniors. Going ahead with the increase August 1 will prove
that the Conservative government is off its rocker. This increase can and
must be stopped. Be part of the rocking chair protest on Tues., July 30
and Wed., July 31.
